Part Bibliography and Relation Register
Part 2 (2a-2b): Informational Architecture; Knowledge, Intelligence, and Observation | Issue 1
Control field | Value |
|---|---|
Document ID | P2-2A2B-SD04-BIBLIOGRAPHY |
Version / issue | Issue 1 |
Date | 2026-09-23 |
Status | Final Issue 1 support release covering all ten Part 2 canonical papers, including the released Paper 1c scholarly apparatus. Secondary to canonical papers. Exact paper and support file identities are recorded in the release manifest; scholarly scope limits remain explicit. |
Supersedes | The preceding Issue 1 copy of this support document and its earlier pre-release inputs. Immediate release input: Part 2 - Bibliography and Relation Register - Issue 1.docx | sha16 8a43f19d0e77a701. Earlier source files and release history are retained. This reissue aligns support to the minimally amended Papers 2, 4a and 4c; it makes no further paper edits. |
Function | Conglomerates the Part 2a and Part 2b bibliography and relation-control registers inside one Part 2 support document while preserving paper-local scholarly relations, coded audit posture, hold/exclusion branch-memory, adjacency residual, posture/delta state, and Series handoff. |
Canonical rule | Canonical primary and extension papers govern technical definitions. Paper 1 owns the RRP architecture; Paper 1a signal; Paper 1b reference-indexed realism and closure; Paper 1c the relational index, embodiment, derived reachability, Relational Form, and propagation; Paper 2 knowledge; Paper 3 intelligence; Paper 4 observation; Paper 4a abstraction and perspective; Paper 4b scale and measurement; Paper 4c the observation-program operational envelope. |
Internal split rule | Part 2a and Part 2b remain distinct canonical regions inside one Part-level support control. Part 2b inherits Part 2a architecture; downstream material does not retroactively redefine upstream canonical terms. |
Source-lock rule | Use the ten Issue 1 paper identities in 0.1 and the directional support-control chain in 0.2. Part_2_Issue_1_Support_Manifest.json distinguishes recalculated SHA-256 digests from unchanged recorded locks carried forward without byte verification. Historical predecessor locks remain evidence only. Every later saved edit requires rehashing and downstream reconciliation. |
Template rule | Retain the consolidated support schema, record IDs and GOT-SFMT-01 visual family. Preserve Paper 1c content and canonical definitions. This reconciliation updates release controls and the limited Paper 1c support alignment; it adds no external publication or independent technical definition. |
0. Part-level consolidation and source discipline
This clean Issue 1 support reissue reconciles Part 2a and Part 2b with the completed, limited Paper 1c integrations in Papers 2, 4a and 4c. The ten-paper sequence, canonical ownership and internal split are preserved. Source-lock verification and carried-forward limits are distinguished in 0.1. This support pass makes no further primary- or extension-paper edits.
The Issue 1 canonical paper sequence is 1, 1a, 1b, 1c, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 4b, 4c. Paper 1c - Relational Form is an attached extension of Paper 1, placed after 1b. The Part 2b sequence remains Knowledge (2), Intelligence (3), Observation (4), Limits (4a), Scale (4b), and Operational Envelope (4c).

Source identity note: the current first-16 SHA-256 values for Paper 1c and all six Part 2b papers were recalculated from the available DOCX files, using the reissued Papers 2, 4a and 4c. Papers 1, 1a and 1b retain their recorded Issue 1 locks; their bytes and the earlier full manifests were not supplied for this reconciliation. Part_2_Issue_1_Support_Manifest.json records the verified full digests and marks those three retained locks without reconstructing missing digests. Historical predecessor locks and earlier change-log entries remain historical evidence.
Paper 1c release alignment: the canonical Issue 1 manuscript contains 21 native endnotes, nine internal series references and six reused external works. Its direct conceptual sources are Papers 1, 1a and 1b; Part 2b references are downstream handoffs. The support stack preserves the manuscript's compositional scope and explicit evidence limits, including endnote 10 on the unsupported Plato attribution. Release identity does not establish that attribution, validate the illustrations empirically, or constitute a new external discovery audit. Bibliographic roles and limits are recorded in SD-04 as the downstream consolidation record, not as an upstream definition or hash dependency.
0.2 Part-level support-control chain
Control ID | Released control file / source lock | Permitted use |
|---|---|---|
Part 2 - Concept Compression Map - Issue 1.docx | Part structure and source-discipline control reference. | |
Part 2 - Glossary - Issue 1.docx | Vocabulary and canonical-home control reference. | |
Part 2 - Guardrail and Failure-Mode Register - Issue 1.docx | Failure-control and release-discipline reference. | |
Protocol | GOT - Bibliographic Identification Classification and Adjacency Discovery Protocol - Issue 1.docx | GOT-SD-BIB-01 | Bibliographic classes, relation tags, inheritance levels, hold/exclusion discipline, residual, and upward-consolidation control. |
Inherited Part 1 support controls remain limited to the uses already permitted by the source documents: NTC, BD, IPL, comparator/localisation discipline, and support-document template/control practice. Part 1 life-attribution classes are not imported into Part 2 statuses.
Excluded source class: superseded Part 2 paper revisions; separate pre-release Part 2a/Part 2b support wording where it conflicts with current canonical papers or this consolidated control path; exported full-series TEM material; future Part 3 unknown-handling procedures except explicit handoff; prior generated answers; and unverified or unadmitted external material. Bibliographic apparatus does not create technical inheritance or move canonical ownership.
0.3 Cross-subpart publication-identity control
The two retained subpart bibliography registers preserve their original local IDs for recoverability. The following exact publication identities recur across Part 2a and Part 2b and must be treated as one publication identity during any whole-Part or Series-level deduplication. Their paper-local scholarly relations remain distinct.
Publication identity | Occurrence across Part 2 |
|---|---|
Part 2a - Informational Architecture
Internal Part 2a support section. Papers 1, 1a, 1b and 1c govern this region. Paper 1c now carries 21 native endnotes, nine internal series references and six external works already cited in Part 2a. Its direct conceptual sources are Papers 1, 1a and 1b; Part 2b entries are downstream handoffs. This source-only compositional review does not extend the historical external discovery coverage or audit codes of the earlier papers.
This internal Part 2a section preserves publication identity and earned paper-local relations. The 2026-08-12 reconciliation recorded the Paper 1 targeted audit and historical Paper 1a/1b coded lineage. The subsequent existing-corpus apparatus review added six bounded Paper 1c local uses. The Issue 1 release retains that completed source-reuse record and binds it to the released manuscript; no new external publication or discovery sweep is claimed.
The governing distinction remains bibliographic identity versus relational use. Historical maturity/class/tag/inheritance codes stay attached to their original paper-local relations. Paper 1c’s new local notes state direct series inheritance, compositional derivation, comparator or provenance use, illustrative scope and source limits in ordinary language. They do not receive inferred maturity, inheritance or exclusion codes. The absent original protocol is not reconstructed as a complete code system.
No relation is strengthened by aggregation. Repetition of an author, theme, or intellectual neighbourhood across papers is not evidence of Indexed Inheritance, priority, correctness, or framework-level dependence. Promotion remains subject to deliberate review under GOT-SD-BIB-01 and must be supported by the paper-level audit apparatus rather than inferred at Part level.
The local endnotes and bibliography/reference list of each paper remain the reader-facing scholarly apparatus. This Part document is control infrastructure: it supports deduplication, cross-paper consistency, branch-memory discipline, later Series consolidation, and prevention of authority transfer by accumulation.
2. Consolidation architecture
Layer | Function | Control rule |
|---|---|---|
Paper bibliography | Reader-facing local scholarly apparatus. | Full reference list plus local endnotes. The paper decides why a source is present. |
Part bibliography | Deduplicated external publication identity across four Part 2a papers; internal series citations are recorded separately. | One bibliographic record per publication, with paper-occurrence markers. It does not flatten local relations. |
Relation register | Preserves the source-to-paper relation that was actually earned. | Preserve the completed paper-audit maturity/class/tag/inheritance posture where available; retain the paper endnote as reader-facing authority. No Part-level promotion by aggregation. |
Cross-paper controls | Expose material differences where authors or intellectual families recur. | Prevents author-level recurrence or thematic similarity from becoming false bibliographic deduplication, authority transfer, or silent conceptual inheritance. |
Hold / exclusion branch-memory | Preserves the status of material candidates not admitted to a local paper bibliography. | Retain the original Paper 1/1a/1b historical records. Paper 1c’s source-only reuse review and evidence limits are documented locally, without new discovery claims or invented codes. |
Part residual | Carries historical discovery limits and Paper 1c’s explicit source-limited review residual. | No claim of exhaustive prior-art discovery; unsearched, inaccessible, held, excluded, terminology-independent, or unrecognised adjacency remains residual. |
Series handoff | Feeds the later Series Master Bibliography and dependency/provenance controls. | Deduplicate bibliographic identity again at Series level while retaining all paper- and Part-local relation records. |
Upward consolidation therefore proceeds as: individual paper bibliography -> Part bibliography -> Series Master Bibliography. At each step the bibliographic record may be deduplicated; the indexed relation may not be collapsed merely for convenience.
3. Part 2a deduplicated publication bibliography
The following twenty-two external publication identities remain unchanged. Papers 1, 1a and 1b supply their original 22 reference-list occurrences (five, six and eleven respectively); Paper 1c adds six local occurrences of existing works. The Issue 1 Part 2a external totals are therefore 28 occurrences and 22 unique publications. Nine internal series references in Paper 1c are recorded separately in 3.2 and are not counted as external publication identities. Existing PB IDs and bibliographic records are preserved.

3.1 Paper 1c bibliographic coverage and decision record
Review item | Source evidence / current state | Issue 1 disposition / continuing limit |
|---|---|---|
Canonical inclusion | Paper 1c is the released compositional extension listed and source-locked in 0.1. Its argument and scholarly apparatus remain those of the frozen Issue 1 manuscript. | Keep canonical-work identity separate from external-publication identity and local citation role. |
Reader-facing apparatus | 21 native endnotes; nine internal series references; six existing external works. Verified in the released Issue 1 manuscript identified in 0.1. | Absent-apparatus placeholder closed. The final manuscript, its note anchors and reference entries are the paper-level source for this register; no further apparatus is authored in this support release. |
Plato comparison | Heading 3.4 attributes a position to Plato, but the supplied cited corpus identifies no supporting Platonic text. Note 10 exposes the limit. | Carried source limitation, not verified historical scholarship. The frozen manuscript retains the comparison and endnote 10; this support release neither adds a Platonic source nor applies alternative wording. A future supported attribution or wording change requires a paper revision and new downstream hashes. |
Shannon / quantum illustration | Shannon (1948) is reused in note 17 only as channel-theoretic context. Note 3 reuses Rovelli (2015) only for physical-relative information, not a quantum result. | No quantum formalism is imported; no new calculation is performed; Paper 1a’s F/DEP/1 posture is not automatically transferred. |
Coded audit / branch-memory | The retained Paper 1c source-reuse record and released endnotes document the bounded existing-corpus review. The original GOT-SD-BIB-01 control remains unrecovered; no full discovery audit is claimed. | Retain existing codes at their old local homes. Use explicit prose roles for Paper 1c; do not invent maturity, inheritance or exclusion codes. |
Issue 1 bibliography delta | Six new Paper 1c local external occurrences; zero new external publication identities. Part 2a totals: 28 occurrences, 22 identities. | Count nine internal series references separately. Preserve the original 22 Part 2a relation rows and all Part 2b records. |
Issue 1 release gate | Paper-level apparatus present in released Issue 1; source-only inheritance and reuse roles documented. Historical attribution and illustrative evidence limits remain explicit. | Paper identity and final source hashes propagated. Release is of the frozen source-limited corpus; it does not resolve the scholarly limits by relabelling or establish new empirical findings. |
3.2 Paper 1c internal series-reference register
These nine manuscript references identify direct inheritance or downstream handoff. They are not additional external-publication admissions and do not change the 22/53 external identity totals.
Series identifier | Citation role | Referenced manuscript |
|---|---|---|
Direct architectural inheritance; headings 1.4; 2.1-2.3; 3.1-3.6; 4.1-4.3; 6.1-6.3; 7.8. | Relative Reference Points | |
Direct physical-pathway inheritance; recoverable Part 1 handoff; headings 1.4; 2.1-2.4; 3.4, 3.6; 4.1-4.4; 5.2; 6.3-6.4; 7.1-7.3; 8.11. | From Noise Cometh Signal | |
Direct realism, target/model and residual inheritance; headings 1.2; 2.2-2.3; 3.1-3.5; 4.3-4.4; 5.1. | Reference-Indexed Realism | |
Downstream knowledge handoff only; headings 1.6; 3; 5.1. | On the Origin of Knowledge | |
Downstream intelligence handoff only; headings 2.2-2.3. | On the Origin of Intelligence | |
Downstream observation handoff only; headings 1.2, 1.4-1.5; 3.2-3.5; 4.1-4.3. | On the Origin of Observation | |
Downstream abstraction and correction navigation only; headings 2-4. | The Limits of Observation | |
Downstream scale and measurement navigation only; headings 2-4. | The Scale of Observation | |
Downstream program-envelope navigation only; headings 1.2-1.4; 2.1. | The Operational Envelope of Observation |
4. Cross-paper relation controls
The original three-paper Part 2a reference lists contain no exact publication duplicates. Paper 1c now reuses six of those exact works under the local boundaries in its notes. The original Bateson and Landauer distinct-work controls remain intact. Exact work identity is deduplicated; the Paper 1c relation remains a separate paper-local record and does not inherit the earlier code by recurrence.
Source / control | Paper 1 relation | Paper 1a relation | Paper 1b relation | Part-level control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
PB02 / PB03 Bateson | PB02 Bateson (1970): historical provenance for consequential difference as a partial precursor to RRP-indexed informational architecture. | PB03 Bateson (1972): close cybernetic comparator; the signal paper places preserved signal and RRP-indexed availability below consequential-difference burden. | Not locally admitted. | Distinct publications and distinct local relations. Do not collapse the 1970 article and 1972 collection into one Part record or infer technical inheritance from recurrence. |
PB11 / PB10 Landauer | PB11 Landauer (1991): physical provenance; physical embodiment is necessary but not sufficient for RRP-indexed operational information. | PB10 Landauer (1961): physical irreversibility result grounding cost and constraint for information operations; it does not supply RRP or the signal ladder. | Not locally admitted. | Distinct publications carrying different physical-provenance functions. Author recurrence has no upgrading effect. |
Original-three-paper slice | No repeated publication identity. | No repeated publication identity. | No repeated publication identity. | The original three papers retain 22 occurrences and 22 publication identities. Their relations are unchanged. Paper 1c adds the bounded reuses recorded separately below. |
Paper 1c reuse | PB01 Barwise/Seligman; PB11 Landauer (1991); PB19 Rovelli. | PB22 Shannon (1948). | PB09 Giere; PB15 Massimi. | Six exact works recur with separate 1c note anchors. Issue 1 totals: 28 external occurrences, 22 identities. No automatic code or dependency transfer. |
5. Paper-local relation index
This index preserves the 22 original paper-local external relations and adds six Paper 1c source-reuse relations, giving 28 external local occurrences. The historical coded postures are retained, not externally rerun. Each new Paper 1c relation is anchored to its own native endnote and to the existing source home; its ordinary-language role is not an invented audit code. Internal series citations remain separate in 3.2.
Part ID | Paper | Source | Local status / compact grammar | Local anchor | Source-locked relation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PB01 | P1 | Barwise & Seligman (1997) | A3; C / SPEC / 0 | Endnote 3 | Neighbouring formal architecture of classifications, tokens, states, and channels. The present OA relation remains physically indexed to an RRP and does not inherit channel theory. |
PB02 | P1 | Bateson (1970) | A3; P/C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 1 | Partial precursor through consequential difference. The present architecture separately controls availability, classing, registration, retention, and redeployment rather than using consequence as the sole information threshold. |
PB08 | P1 | Dretske (1981) | A3; C / SPEC / 0 | Endnote 4 | Comparator for objective information through dependency, coding, and later cognitive use. RRP stops at more primitive finite-locus access conditions and inherits no cognitive or semantic burden. |
PB11 | P1 | Landauer (1991) | A3; P / SPEC / 0 | Endnote 5 | Physical embodiment is necessary in the present architecture but not sufficient; operational information for a locus requires the RRP-indexed relation. |
PB19 | P1 | Rovelli (2015) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 2 | Relative information between physical systems without subjectivism is a close comparator. RRP adds locus-interface-regime availability and OP/OA/OR/RAS/RSD status distinctions; no technical inheritance is claimed. |
PB03 | P1a | Bateson (1972) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 5 | Consequential difference is a close comparator, but preserved signal and RRP-indexed availability are placed below that burden; comparator-stable downstream consequence is reserved for NTC. |
PB06 | P1a | Berg & Purcell (1977) | A3; C / SPEC / 0 | Endnote 1 | Chemoreception shows physically limited discrimination under receptor geometry, diffusion, fluctuation, and observation-time constraints. It is a restricted comparator to finite ingress, not the general Locus Event Horizon architecture. |
PB10 | P1a | Landauer (1961) | F / DEP / 1 | Endnote 2 | Canonical physical-irreversibility result for logically irreversible information operations. Grounds physical cost and constraint, not RRP architecture or the signal ladder. |
PB13 | P1a | MacKay & McCulloch (1952) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 4 | Historical comparator for channel-relative discriminability under coding, relaxation-time, and temporal-resolution constraints. Does not supply the present signal/OP/registration/retention/downstream-consequence separations. |
PB17 | P1a | Parrondo, Horowitz & Sagawa (2015) | F / DEP / 1 | Endnote 2 | Modern thermodynamics-of-information framework used to ground physical cost and constraint. Does not supply RRP architecture or the present signal ladder. |
PB22 | P1a | Shannon (1948) | F / DEP / 1 | Endnote 3 | Supplies the channel-relative mathematical framework for entropy, coding, alphabets, noise, and channel capacity. The further RRP burden of operational availability for a specified locus is additional. |
PB04 | P1b | Benoist (2021) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 5 | Contextual realism is a close comparator to rejection of unindexed claims. Reference-Indexed Realism adds a physical access scaffold and explicit target/model/residual discipline. |
PB05 | P1b | Bensusan (2021) | A3; C / CON / 0 | Endnote 6 | Indexicalism is a close neighbour in rejecting totalising metaphysics. The present index constrains a finite reality-claim while the ontological target may exceed every current index; no developmental dependence is established. |
PB07 | P1b | Bhaskar (2008 [1975]) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 2 | Intransitive/transitive distinction is close to target/model asymmetry. The paper does not inherit Bhaskar's transcendental argument, stratified ontology, or wider critical-realist programme. |
PB09 | P1b | Giere (2006) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 8 | Along with Massimi, provides a near comparator for perspectival observation and representation. Reference-Indexed Realism is broader and grounds finite modelling in RRP access, target/model asymmetry, comparator discipline, and residual. |
PB12 | P1b | Lewis (1986) | P / N-A / 0 | Endnote 3 | Representative source for the strong possible-worlds form of modal realism. Used schematically; no substantive metaphysical commitment is inherited. |
PB14 | P1b | Maddy (1990) | P / N-A / 0 | Endnote 3 | Representative source for mathematical realism. Used schematically; no substantive metaphysical commitment is inherited. |
PB15 | P1b | Massimi (2022) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 8 | Along with Giere, provides a near comparator for perspectival observation and representation. Reference-Indexed Realism is broader and grounds finite modelling in RRP access, target/model asymmetry, comparator discipline, and residual. |
PB16 | P1b | Nagel (1986) | P / N-A / 0 | Endnote 7 | Provenance for the "view from nowhere" formulation and the subjective/objective standpoint tension. Reference-Indexed Realism rejects a perspective-free ideal and treats objectivity as disciplined correction of an indexed model under target pressure. |
PB18 | P1b | Putnam (1981) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 1 | Comparator for metaphysical realism as mind-independent reality plus a fixed complete description from an external standpoint. The paper shares rejection of complete model-possession but retains stronger target/model asymmetry. |
PB20 | P1b | Searle (1995) | A3; C / OVL / 0 | Endnote 4 | Institutional facts can depend on human practices while remaining objectively consequential. The paper generalises the dependence point across indices and does not inherit collective-intentionality or constitutive-rule machinery. |
PB21 | P1b | Shafer-Landau (2003) | P / N-A / 0 | Endnote 3 | Representative source for moral realism. Used schematically; no substantive metaphysical commitment is inherited. |
PB01 | P1c | Barwise & Seligman (1997) | Existing-corpus reuse; no new coded maturity or inheritance level | Endnote 4 | Structural comparator; no channel-theory inheritance. Earlier source home: Paper 1, endnote 3. See Paper 1c local note for its actual role. |

6. Hold and exclusion branch-memory
The original three-paper hold/exclusion branch-memory remains unchanged. Paper 1c’s row now records this bounded existing-corpus review and its material source limits; it is not a newly completed external discovery audit. No X code or other formal hold/exclusion classification is invented.
Paper | Candidate / family | Current control state | Reason / update condition |
|---|---|---|---|
P1 | Floridi (2008), Levels of Abstraction; Gibson ecological perception; Weinberger pragmatic information; MacKay information/meaning; Tishby-Pereira-Bialek Information Bottleneck; terminology-collision family for RRP/OP/OA/OR. | Holds: Floridi A3 C/SPEC/0 X6; Gibson A3 C/SPEC/0 X3-X6; Weinberger A3 C/CON-SPEC/0 X3; MacKay A2-A3 C/SPEC/0 X3; Information Bottleneck A3 C/SPEC/0 X3. Terminology collisions retained as X5 residual where relations differ. | Reopen only if Paper 1 itself develops general abstraction theory, ecological/perceptual availability, receiver-use/decision semantics, optimisation-based relevance, or a materially closer prior technical relation. Downstream fit alone is not an update condition. No material prior construct was found for RAS, RSD, RRP Set, or the Relational Access Principle. |
P1a | Tanner & Swets (1954); Dretske (1981); Cheong et al. (2011); Heider/Gibson ecological-information lineage; Pattee/biosemiotic and semantic-information approaches. | Holds/exclusions retained from the P2v10-aligned audit: Tanner & Swets A1/X7; Dretske X6; Cheong et al. X3; Heider/Gibson A1/X7; Pattee/biosemiotic family X6. | Reopen only if Paper 1a develops a psychophysical decision criterion, expands signal into knowledge, makes biochemical channel capacity substantive, completes primary ecological-information comparison, or develops semantic/symbolic conditions at the primitive signal layer. None fired in P2v11. |
P1b | Chang (2022), Realism for Realistic People; Morgan & Morrison (1999), Models as Mediators; philosophical aesthetic-realism literature. | Chang: Hold / A3 / C-CON-0. Morgan & Morrison: Hold / A2 / A-ADJ-0 / X3. Aesthetic-realism disciplinary family: Exclude / X5. | Reopen Chang if pragmatist/operational alternatives become a substantive Paper 1b comparator; Morgan & Morrison if scientific-model mediation becomes a separate section; aesthetic-realism only if aesthetic properties or judgement become a distinct target relation. None fired in P2v7. |
P1c | Existing-corpus citation reuse; Plato attribution; empirical interpretation of the worked examples. | Source-only review now documented. No full protocol recovery, external discovery sweep or new coded hold/exclusion claim. | Reopen if a historical attribution is retained as scholarship, an illustration becomes a substantive empirical claim, or a new formal dependency/priority claim is proposed. Otherwise preserve the bounded compositional posture and the decisions in 3.1. |
7. Part-level adjacency residual
This revision carries forward the historical discovery posture of Papers 1, 1a and 1b without expanding its searched fields. Paper 1c is reviewed as a compositional extension using the existing corpus. Its inherited architecture and six external citation reuses are locally documented. An external adjacency sweep for relational index, embodiment, reachability, Form or propagation is not claimed, and no absence of comparable scholarship is inferred.
The 22 original Part 2a external local relations and their codes are preserved; six bounded Paper 1c local uses bring the Issue 1 occurrence total to 28 without changing the 22 publication identities. Paper 1a’s Shannon/Landauer/Parrondo physical-formal dependencies remain at their original home and recorded level 1. Paper 1c performs no new formal calculation and receives no automatic F/DEP/1 transfer or new Indexed Inheritance.
The historical no-further-material-adjacency statement applies only to its recorded search fields and conditions, not to Paper 1c. Non-English scholarship, inaccessible sources, terminology-independent formulations and unrecognised adjacency remain residual. The present source-only review adds no novelty or exhaustive-prior-art claim. Paper 1c’s Plato attribution and the empirical limits of its illustrations remain visible in 3.1 and the released paper endnotes and retained source-reuse record.
8. Series handoff and release control
The released Part 2a register contains 22 external publication identities and 28 external local occurrences. Paper 1c's nine internal series references remain separately recoverable. Its 21 endnotes and 15 references are present in the frozen Issue 1 manuscript. Recorded Part 2a source locks are retained; current verification scope is stated in 0.1. Series handoff carries the existing-corpus review, unsupported historical-attribution limit and illustrative scope without converting them into verified scholarship or empirical results.
Release check | State | Control note |
|---|---|---|
Paper-local recoverability | Verified in released paper | Paper 1c has 21 native endnotes and 15 references in the source-locked Issue 1 manuscript. The three earlier paper apparatus sets are preserved. |
Bibliographic deduplication | Checked within supplied corpus | 28 Part 2a external occurrences over 22 publication identities. Nine internal series references remain separate. |
Cross-paper relation preservation | Preserved | All earlier local relations remain intact. Six Paper 1c uses are separately anchored and bounded. |
Coded-status reconciliation | Historical posture retained | No new Paper 1c maturity, inheritance or exclusion code is invented; prose roles remain explicit. |
Hold/exclusion branch-memory | Source-only record retained | Historical rows remain intact. Paper 1c’s historical-attribution and illustration limits have explicit update conditions. |
Inheritance anti-drift | Preserved | No publication gains dependency or Indexed Inheritance status by recurrence, composition or aggregation. |
Adjacency residual | Explicit; no sweep claimed | The bounded compositional review does not establish originality or exhaustive coverage. |
Series handoff | Released with explicit limits | Source locks and final hashes are propagated. Handoff retains the unsupported Plato attribution, illustrative scope and absence of a new external discovery sweep; no unresolved claim is represented as verified. |
Release rule: changes to any Paper 1, 1a, 1b, or 1c technical or bibliographic content must be resolved at paper level before the relevant audit/delta check and Part deduplication are finalised. Final hashing follows the last saved edit. This support pass neither pre-installs external relations nor rewrites canonical ownership.
Part 2b - Knowledge, Intelligence, and Observation
Internal Part 2b support section. Papers 2, 3, 4, 4a, 4b, and 4c govern this region and inherit the Part 2a informational architecture. All paper-number references in this section use the current sequential numbering.
This internal Part 2b section preserves the controlled Part 2b consolidation layer required by the bibliographic protocol. It deduplicates bibliographic identity across the six papers while keeping the scholarly relation local to the paper in which that relation was earned. It is not a substitute bibliography for any paper, and it does not move citation authority upward merely because a source recurs across the Part.
The governing distinction is between bibliographic identity and relational use. One publication may appear once in the Part bibliography and still carry different paper-local relations. The relation register therefore preserves the maturity, class/tag/inheritance code, local locator, and non-inheritance boundary recorded by the paper-level audit apparatus rather than assigning one Part-wide meaning to the source.
No relation is strengthened by aggregation. The six historical Part 2b audit records carried by the supplied register report no new Indexed Inheritance or F-class dependency from their bibliography integration. This release preserves that coded posture and makes no new promotion; it does not independently rerun those external discovery sweeps.
Historical source-control record: the 2026-08-12 posture/delta check covered the then-current P2v8/P2v5/P2v8/P2v4/P2v5/P2v9 Part 2b papers, retained their admitted references and recorded the Anderson & Sharrock branch-memory clarification. This Issue 1 release checks reference-list and local-note correspondence against the released manuscripts and retains the earlier audit records. Current paper locks in 0.1 identify the frozen Issue 1 bytes; historical sha16 values certify neither those bytes nor a newly repeated audit.
Current Issue 1 delta: Paper 2, heading 3.3; Paper 4a, heading 2.4 (with corresponding abstract wording); and Paper 4c, heading 2.1 now distinguish Paper 1c Relational Reachability from grounded deployability, ingress and reliable program performance respectively. Paper 4c, headings 6.4-6.5 also acknowledges Paper 1c in the closing sequence. These are internal series references, not additional external-publication occurrences. Comparison with the preceding Issue 1 files confirms unchanged endnotes and reference lists in all three papers; the recorded external relation classifications, counts and historical audit posture are retained. No new external discovery sweep, audit-code assignment or inheritance promotion is claimed.
2. Consolidation architecture
Layer | Function | Control rule |
|---|---|---|
Paper bibliography | Reader-facing local scholarly apparatus. | Full reference list plus local endnotes. The paper decides why a source is present. |
Part bibliography | Deduplicated publication identity across six papers. | One record per publication with paper-occurrence markers; no flattening of local relations. |
Relation register | Preserves the source-to-paper relation actually earned. | Use the paper audit maturity/class/tag/inheritance code and locator; no Part-level promotion by repetition. |
Cross-paper controls | Expose the two exact publication duplicates and other author/family recurrence. | Prevents repeated citation from becoming silent authority transfer or technical inheritance. |
Hold / exclusion branch-memory | Carries material candidates not admitted locally. | Preserves update conditions so rejected/scoped material is not rediscovered without context. |
Part residual | Carries limits of the six completed discovery sweeps upward. | No claim of exhaustive prior-art discovery; inaccessible, unsearched, or unrecognised adjacency remains residual. |
Series handoff | Feeds the later Series Master Bibliography and dependency/provenance controls. | Deduplicate again at Series level while retaining every paper-local relation record. |
Upward consolidation proceeds as: individual paper bibliography -> Part bibliography -> Series Master Bibliography. Bibliographic identity may be deduplicated at each layer; an indexed relation may not be collapsed merely for convenience.
3. Part 2b deduplicated publication bibliography
The following 36 entries are the union of the six current paper bibliographies after exact-publication deduplication. There are 38 paper-local occurrences and 36 unique publications. Only Ashby (1956) and Pattee (2001) recur as the same publication in more than one paper. Paper-occurrence markers are descriptive only and do not assign a Part-level class.

4. Paper-local relation register
The relation register preserves the earned paper-local scholarly reasons. Maturity, class, relation tag, and inheritance values remain exactly as carried by the supplied support source; they are not newly assigned or externally re-audited here. The supplied paper reference lists and local endnote placements are checked for correspondence. Inheritance level remains 0 throughout this admitted Part 2b set.
Part ID | Paper | Maturity | Class / tag / inheritance | Local locator | Paper-local relation / boundary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PB24 | P2 | — | P / N-A / 0 | §1.2 knowledge/possession, note 1 | Provenance comparator: anti-possession move; no World 3 ontology or technical machinery inherited. |
PB07 | P2 | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.3 knowledge/belief, note 2 | Examined overlap: information-grounded naturalisation; Paper 2 places minimal retained-distinction status below belief and semantic use. |
PB35 | P2 | A3 | C / CON / 0 | §5.1 truth-status, note 3 | Opposing comparator: factive mental-state knowledge versus fallible non-mental record-status. |
PB33 | P3 | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.3 broader than cognition, note 1 | Examined overlap: lower-than-human cognition boundary; Paper 3 places applied distinction below cognition and permits non-biological loci. |
PB15 | P3 | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §3.1 locus, note 2 | Examined overlap: distributed operational unit; locus remains attribution discipline, not distributed-mind ontology. |
PB02 | P3 | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §3.2 finite branch-space, note 3 | Examined overlap: regulation, variety, finite alternatives; intelligence still requires applied distinction and comparator-stable dependence. |
PB06 | P3 | — | P / N-A / 0 | §4.3 active information, note 4 | Terminological provenance only: external “active information” has different quantum-theoretic meaning; no Bohmian mechanism inherited. |
PB31 | P3 | A3 | C / APP / 0 | §4.4 passive intelligence, note 5 | Restricted application neighbour: externalised traces reused; Paper 3 generalises through producing-locus provenance plus present uptake. |
PB17 | P3 | A3 | C / CON / 0 | §8.9 success, note 6 | Opposing comparator: performance/goal-achievement measure versus distinction-conditioned dependence; success alone is insufficient. |
PB28 | P4 | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.2 bounded registration, note 1 | Examined overlap: technically mediated observation; Paper 4 generalises below scientific practice through RRP/OP/OA/OR/RAS. |

PB12 | P4a | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.2 abstraction, note 1 | Examined overlap: structured/theory-laden observation; Paper 4a derives substrate-general abstraction from OA before OR. |
PB10 | P4a | A3 | C / APP / 0 | §2.4 biological perspective, note 5 | Application comparator: organism-environment perceptual relation; guards against equating abstraction with internal symbolic representation. |
PB23 | P4a | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §2.1 observational cut, note 2 | Examined overlap in cut language; Paper 4a cut is local registerability, not symbol/dynamics code architecture. |
PB09 | P4a | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §2.1 observational cut, note 2 | Examined overlap: levels/observables; Paper 4a makes abstraction constitutive of finite observation rather than an analytical method only. |

PB19 | P4a | A3 | C / SPEC / 0 | §4.5 cross-locus correction, note 7 | Specialisation comparator: critical social correction; plurality alone does not establish objectivity. |
PB30 | P4b | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.3 scale not size/unit/choice, note 1 | Measurement-scale comparator: legitimate operations depend on comparability structure; Paper 4b asks the prior operative-scale question. |

PB03 | P4c | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §1.3 observation program, note 1 | Observation-program overlap: structured sensing pathway; Paper 4c permits minimal non-purposive programs and does not require action for TO. |
PB36 | P4c | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §2.2 Counterfactual Horizon, note 2 | Counterfactual-intervention overlap; CH bounds admissible comparator intervention and does not inherit interventionism as a causal theory. |
PB27 | P4c | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §3.2 Observational Bandwidth, note 3 | Channel-throughput comparator; OBW additionally requires observation-stack status and persistence/redeployability where claimed. |
PB02 | P4c | A3 | C / OVL / 0 | §3.4 Observational Gain, note 4 | Cybernetic structural neighbour; OG is not requisite variety or regulatory success. |
PB34 | P4c | A3 | C / APP / 0 | §4.1 Observational Drift, note 5 | Restricted-domain concept-drift application; ODr generalises mapping/deployment instability beyond adaptive learners. |
PB25 | P4c | A2 | A / ADJ / 0 | §4.4 drift-load-collapse dynamics, note 6 | Acknowledged structural adjacency: dynamic pressure/boundary interactions; no observation-status or OCx criterion inherited. |
5. Cross-paper duplicate controls
Part ID | Publication | Papers | Cross-paper control |
|---|---|---|---|
PB02 | Ashby (1956), An introduction to cybernetics | P3; P4c | P3 uses Ashby as an examined comparator for finite branch-space and regulation; P4c uses the same publication as a comparator for Observational Gain. Neither use imports cybernetic regulation as the intelligence or observation definition. |
PB23 | Pattee (2001), The physics of symbols: Bridging the epistemic cut | P4; P4a | P4 uses Pattee in the life-entails-observer-locus comparison; P4a uses the same publication as an observational-cut comparator. Symbol/code architecture is not inherited in either paper. |
Author-level recurrence without exact publication identity is not bibliographic duplication. For example, Woodward appears in different publications in Paper 4 and Paper 4c; those records remain distinct.
6. Hold and exclusion branch-memory
The following branch-memory is retained from the supplied account of the six historical source-locked audits and 2026-08-12 delta checks. Candidates remain non-admitted unless the relevant paper already admits them. Existing status and update conditions are preserved; Paper 1c thematic relevance does not reopen or promote an old candidate automatically.
Paper | Candidate / family | Current status | Reason for hold / exclusion | Update condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
P2 | Vinod (2025), From Justified True Belief to Mnemonic Survival | Hold / A1 / X7 | Unusually close recent retentional formulation; source-level comparison insufficient. | Reassess after stable publication or full source-level comparison sufficient for A2/A3. |
P2 | Holland (1974), Retained Knowledge | Hold / A1 / X7 | Memory/retention neighbour appears to concern retention of already possessed knowledge rather than retention as primitive status. | Revisit if primary-text inspection establishes a closer discriminator relation. |
P2 | Floridi (2004), strongly semantic information | Hold / A2 / X6 | Useful truth/semantic opposition but primarily an information comparator; Williamson is the cleaner local truth/factivity contrast. | Revisit if semantic truth conditions become a substantive local comparison. |
P2 | Campbell (1960), blind variation and selective retention | Hold / A2 / X6 | Structural retention adjacency concerns knowledge growth/creative selection, not record-presence from prior registration. | Revisit if knowledge growth or selective-retention mechanism is added. |
P2 | Generic JTB/Gettier; neural engram; immunological memory; extended-mind families | Exclude / X2-X3-X6 | Real neighbourhoods but not required for minimum-sufficient primitive-discriminator recovery. | Reopen only if a family becomes technically load-bearing. |
P3 | Clark & Chalmers (1998), The Extended Mind | Hold / A3 / C-OVL-0 / X3 | Genuine external-coupling/locus neighbour but locally redundant with Hutchins. | Revisit if external artefact coupling or boundary criteria become technical. |
P3 | Zahedi & Ay (2013), Quantifying Morphological Computation | Hold / A2 / C-APP-0 / X6 | Morphology/behaviour contribution does not establish made-distinction provenance or present application. | Revisit if inherited morphology becomes formal rather than illustrative. |
P3 | Kolchinsky & Wolpert (2018), Semantic Information, Autonomous Agency and Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics | Hold / A3 / C-OVL-0 / X6 | Strong counterfactual information/agency neighbour but closer to life/semantic-information questions. | Revisit if value, viability, semantic information, or self-maintenance becomes a direct comparator. |
P3 | Klyubin, Polani & Nehaniv (2005), Empowerment | Hold / A2 / C-APP-0 / X6 | Formal option-space/control neighbour; measures potential channel capacity rather than realised application of a particular distinction. | Revisit if branch-space potential becomes a quantitative intelligence descriptor. |
P3 | Fang et al. (2026), RobotEQ | Exclude / X5 | Exact passive/active intelligence labels but different underlying relations; fails translation test. | Revisit only for terminology-history work. |
P4 | Everett (1957), Relative State formulation | Hold / A2 / X3 | Historical observer-machine/record precursor but locally redundant after closer Hartle/generalized-observer comparators. | Revisit if quantum-observer genealogy becomes substantive. |
P4 | Jaroszkiewicz (2010), dynamical theory of observation | Hold / A1 / X3 / X6 | Formal detector/register neighbour, narrower quantum/classical apparatus problem. | Revisit if formal detector-network dynamics becomes load-bearing. |
P4 | Second-order cybernetics; distributed cognition; basal/minimal cognition families | Scoped hold / X6 | Real neighbourhoods with stronger local homes in intelligence or later perspective extensions. | Reopen if reflexivity, distributed observer structure, or cognition lineage becomes technical. |
P4a | Barad (2007), Meeting the Universe Halfway | Hold / A2 / A-ADJ-0 / X3-X6 | Agential-cut/apparatus adjacency is real, but wider ontology exceeds the local observational cut. | Revisit if observer/apparatus co-constitution becomes a separate argument. |
P4a | Prophet & Pritchard (2015), Performative Apparatus and Diffractive Practices | Hold / A2 / A-ADJ-0 / X3-X6 | Uses observational-cut language in ALife; locally redundant with Pattee plus Barad branch-memory. | Revisit for terminology history or ALife observer/apparatus relations. |
P4a | Anderson & Sharrock archive, “problem of the abstraction gap” | Hold / A1-A2 / X7 | Exact terminology and relational adjacency are now verified in the authors' archive, but the material is unpublished/preliminary and formal publication identity/maturity remains insufficient for reader-facing admission. | Promote only after a stable formal publication identity, or equivalent publication-level source, is established and the relation still survives source-level scope comparison. |
P4a | Generic robustness/model-comparison and wider theory-ladenness families | Exclude / X3-X6 | Real methodological neighbourhoods but locally redundant once current comparator set is represented. | Reopen if robustness, model pluralism, or theory-ladenness becomes technically load-bearing. |
P4b | Bar-Yam (2004), Multiscale Variety in Complex Systems | Hold / A2 / C-OVL-0 / X3 | Genuine scale-dependent response/complexity neighbour but redundant with Levin and Batterman for current scope. | Revisit if scale-dependent complexity or quantitative envelope descriptors are formalised. |
P4b | Chang (2004), Inventing Temperature | Hold / A2 / C-OVL-0 / X3 | Strong calibration/correction neighbour but not needed after Stevens and VIM delimit measurement theory/metrology. | Revisit if calibration or historical operationalisation becomes substantive. |
P4c | Scheffer et al. (2009), Early-warning signals for critical transitions | Hold / A2 / X6 | Regime-transition/tipping neighbour to OCx, but mathematically stronger and narrower. | Revisit if pre-collapse indicators, critical slowing down, bifurcation, or tipping prediction are developed. |
P4c | Kalman (1960) / control-theoretic observability family | Hold / A1 / X5 / X6 | Formal/terminological adjacency concerns state reconstructibility from outputs rather than observation-program performance. | Revisit if state reconstruction becomes a formal component. |
P4c | Howard (1966), Information Value Theory | Exclude / X5 | Decision/economic value of information is not comparator-relative Observational Gain. | Revisit only if OG is reformulated as utility/value. |
P4c | Signal-detection / psychophysical threshold family | Scoped hold / X6 | Relevant to discrimination/reliability but has stronger upstream home in Part 2a signal/noise control. | Reopen if RF becomes an explicit signal-detection or psychophysical section. |
7. Part adjacency residual
The six historical sweeps are described in the supplied register as covering their principal protocol neighbourhoods without exhaustiveness. Those scope limits are retained, not independently reverified by an external search for this release. They do not extend to the Paper 1c source-only review.
Paper | Swept neighbourhoods | Remaining residual |
|---|---|---|
P2 | Naturalised/info-theoretic epistemology; knowledge-first/factive epistemology; objective knowledge; memory/retention; semantic information; selective retention; biological/neural/external memory. | Non-English scholarship, inaccessible monographs/articles, specialist memory sciences, and terminology-independent formulations remain non-exhaustively searched. |
P3 | Machine-intelligence definitions; minimal cognition; cybernetics; distributed cognition; stigmergy; morphological computation; semantic information/agency; empowerment; active-information terminology. | Large general intelligence-definition literature, specialist evolutionary-developmental work, non-English and inaccessible sources, and terminology-independent formulations remain residual. |
P4 | Scientific observation; data/phenomena; physical/quantum observers; IGUS; generalized observers; cybernetics; biological cognition; epistemic cut; detector/register approaches. | Specialist quantum-observer, cybernetic proceedings, non-English and inaccessible specialist literature, and terminology-independent formulations remain residual. |
P4a | Theory-laden observation; ecological perception; epistemic/agential cuts; levels of abstraction; compression; perspectivism; situated knowledge; social objectivity; ALife apparatus work. | Deeper phenomenology, STS/apparatus traditions, robustness/model pluralism, non-English and inaccessible literature, and unidentified abstraction theories remain residual. |
P4b | Measurement-scale theory/metrology; hierarchy; multiscale ecology; philosophy of physics/upscaling; aggregation/ecological inference; cross-scale objectivity. | Representational measurement theory, MAUP/grain-extent literatures, engineering multiscale modelling, institutional measurement, non-English and inaccessible sources remain residual. |
P4c | Active perception; interventionism; channel capacity; cybernetics; concept drift; socio-technical risk; critical transitions; observability; value-of-information; signal detection. | Reliability/fault diagnosis, human factors/psychophysics, sensor networks/metrology, non-English and inaccessible proceedings/monographs, and terminology-independent analogues remain residual. |
Historical Part 2b residual: the recorded sweeps did not claim exhaustive non-English, inaccessible, terminology-independent, or formal-neighbour coverage; their reported absence of a single external framework supplying the complete Part 2b sequence was a bounded source-control statement, not an originality proof. This release carries that residual forward and makes no new external-priority or originality finding.
8. Bibliographic and inheritance controls
Control | Rule |
|---|---|
Citation does not transfer warrant | A publication remains evidence of a recoverable relation, not authority for the paper’s discriminator. |
Adjacency does not imply inheritance | A2/A3 relations remain adjacency/comparator relations unless a separate inheritance audit promotes them. |
No new Indexed Inheritance | All admitted relation rows remain inheritance level 0 in the six source audits; the 2026-08-12 posture/delta checks created no promotion. |
No new F-class dependency | The six audits report no new formal/methodological dependency created by bibliography integration; the 2026-08-12 posture/delta checks created none. |
Provenance remains local | P-class entries recover terminology or intellectual provenance without importing external machinery. |
Comparator pressure remains local | C-class entries state overlap, contrast, application, or specialisation without becoming a Part-wide dependency. |
Hash identity is mechanical | Recalculated hashes identify exact saved file instances. First-16 displays abbreviate SHA-256 values. The release manifest distinguishes verified full digests from the unchanged recorded locks for Papers 1, 1a and 1b, whose bytes were not supplied. Historical predecessor locks remain evidence only. |
9. Series handoff
For Issue 1 whole-Part consolidation, there are now 66 external paper-local reference occurrences and 53 unique external publication identities: 28 occurrences over 22 Part 2a identities plus 38 occurrences over 36 Part 2b identities, with five exact cross-subpart identities. The increase from 60 to 66 is entirely six Paper 1c local reuses of existing works, not six new publications. Paper 1c’s nine internal series references are counted separately. The historical codes of the original 60 relations are unchanged; the six new local uses have bounded roles but no newly assigned audit codes.
The four support documents are released as separate Issue 1 files, all bound to the same ten-paper baseline. SD-01, SD-02 and SD-03 now identify the released apparatus-bearing Paper 1c, while this SD-04 preserves its local citation roles and source limits. The directional control chain is SD-01 -> SD-02 -> SD-03 -> SD-04. Each document embeds only predecessor-support locks; the companion manifest distinguishes recalculated full SHA-256 digests from the three unchanged paper locks carried forward without byte verification. Any later saved edit requires renewed downstream reconciliation.
10. Release checklist
Checklist item | Required condition |
|---|---|
Current paper lock and delta state | Paper 1c and all six Part 2b digests are recalculated from available bytes, using the reissued Papers 2, 4a and 4c. Papers 1, 1a and 1b retain their recorded locks without fresh verification. The internal-reference delta is recorded; historical external audits are not rerun. |
Directional support dependency | SD-01 -> SD-02 -> SD-03 -> SD-04; no circular hash dependency is introduced. |
Paper-local authority | Endnotes, references, and audit records remain authoritative for why a publication is present in a paper. |
Deduplication | 36 unique publication identities from 38 local occurrences; exact duplicates limited to Ashby (1956) and Pattee (2001). |
Inheritance | No new Indexed Inheritance and no new F-class dependency created by the bibliography audits. |
Branch-memory | Held, excluded, and scoped candidates remain recoverable with update conditions; Anderson & Sharrock branch-memory is clarified without publication promotion. |
Residual | Preserve historical search limits and the distinction between Paper 1c's completed existing-corpus review and an unperformed external discovery sweep. Make no complete ten-paper prior-art claim. |
Hash discipline | Any later saved edit to a source-locked file requires a new hash and downstream reconciliation, regardless of whether the nominal version changes. |
Visual QA | Tables, headers, footers, page breaks, and glyphs must render cleanly before delivery. |
Paper 1c closure | Apparatus verified in the frozen manuscript. Carry its bounded relation roles, endnote 10 historical-attribution limit and the illustrative evidence limits in Part 2a 3.1. The support release does not revise the paper or treat an unsupported attribution as established. |
Issue 1 release state | Clean Issue 1 support reissues; all four identify the same ten-paper baseline with the limited Part 2b integrations. Source registers and directional predecessor-support locks are reconciled. Verified full digests, retained-source identities and carried-forward lock limitations are distinguished in the companion manifest. |
Part-level consolidation note
Historical record: the 2026-08-12 audit-reconciled consolidation, 23 September 2026 Pass 1 review and existing-corpus Paper 1c apparatus review are retained. This Issue 1 reconciliation records the limited internal Paper 1c references in Papers 2, 4a and 4c and confirms their unchanged endnotes and reference lists. External publication identities, paper-local scholarly relations, historical codes and hold/exclusion records are preserved. The verification scope in 0.1 separates recalculated digests from carried-forward locks; no external discovery sweep or further paper edit is made.
