1. Purpose and canonical use rules

This Series Master Glossary records controlled vocabulary for Part 1: On the Origin of Life. It prevents terminology drift as the life discriminator, attribution architecture, and diagnostic procedure move into support documents, edge-case audits, and later applications.

This document does not introduce new concepts, replace the canonical papers, or re-argue the sequence. It gives a controlled definition, canonical home, relationship note, and guardrail for each major term.

• Paper 1 owns physical grounding, TC/NTC distinction, comparator discipline, IPL, DTS, the life discriminator, and the physics-chemistry-life transition framing.

• Paper 2 owns the attribution layer: candidate frame, informational regime, maintained boundary, Attribution Locus, DTS completion, continuity, ladder, closure/death, positive exclusion, residual deferral, and topology.

• Paper 3 owns the diagnostic sequence, classification output form, closure output form, audit template, exemplar desktop studies, residual inventory, update statements, and guardrails.

• A term is permitted only when its discriminator conditions remain visible.

• Primary classes, continuity statuses, topology modifiers, closure output, and residual must not be collapsed into one another.

• Residual terms hold unresolved attribution remainder; they are not explanations or verdicts.

Term: Life-realisation threshold
Controlled definition: Stage 2 of the procedure: tests driven constraint-bearing regime, operative distinction, and maintenance relevance.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Failure of present life-realisation does not end the audit.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r05
Term: Attribution Locus localisation
Controlled definition: Stage 3 of the procedure: identifies the bearer of the regime relation under evaluation.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Life inside a frame is not Life of the frame.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r06
Term: DTS-completion localisation
Controlled definition: Stage 4 of the procedure: identifies where the life-realising, resumable, or potential completion relation is performed.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Dependence is too coarse; completion must be localised.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r07
Term: Identity and continuity determination
Controlled definition: Stage 5 of the procedure: determines whether identity-bearing throughput is active, dormant, terminal active, potential, closed, or uncertain with residual.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Dormancy, potential, closure, reconstruction, and incorporation must not be collapsed.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r08
Term: Primary class assignment
Controlled definition: Stage 6 output where Complex Chemistry, Life-in-Potential, or Life is assigned after preceding burdens are met.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Death, topology, and uncertainty must not enter the primary ladder.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r09
Term: Primary-class deferral
Controlled definition: Audit result where primary-class assignment would overstate support and the class field is withheld with residual and update condition.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Output form
Relationship and guardrail: Deferral is not a fourth ladder value.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r10
Term: Topology and relationship assignment
Controlled definition: Stage 7 output describing relations among already-attributed loci.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Procedure stage
Relationship and guardrail: Topology follows attribution; it is not a verdict.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r11
Term: Standard attribution output
Controlled definition: Output form: primary class or residual deferral / continuity status / attributed locus / DTS-completion relation / topology or relationship modifier / residual.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Output form
Relationship and guardrail: Separate fields prevent a naked noun from replacing the attribution relation.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r12
Term: Residual
Controlled definition: Disciplined remainder identifying the local missing discriminator condition and update condition.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Residual
Relationship and guardrail: Residual is not a class, continuity status, topology modifier, explanation, or hidden verdict.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r13
Term: Residual inventory
Controlled definition: List of residual types by missing discriminator condition: frame, reference condition, threshold, operative distinction, comparator, Attribution Locus, DTS completion, continuity, throughput identity, closure, topology, or constituent audit.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Residual
Relationship and guardrail: Inventory prevents uncertainty from becoming a hidden class.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r14
Term: Update condition
Controlled definition: Observation, intervention, comparator result, continuity demonstration, or completion-path demonstration that would change the attribution.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Residual
Relationship and guardrail: Every residual requires an update condition.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r15
Term: Strength marker
Controlled definition: Optional marker such as strong, provisional, weak, or primary-class deferral summarising support without replacing residual.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Output form
Relationship and guardrail: Strength markers must not create false precision.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t08-r16
Term: Exemplar desktop study
Controlled definition: Stylised application of the procedure to an edge-case candidate frame rather than a final empirical verdict for all instances of a named category.
Canonical home / type: Paper 3 | Edge-case discipline
Relationship and guardrail: Examples are conditional on reference frame, scale, horizon, and comparator assumptions.

4. Misuse compression

TABLE got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r01
Misuse: Life = complexity / metabolism / reproduction / adaptation
Why it fails: These may be cues or mechanisms but do not state the discriminator.
Controlled correction: Require driven constraint-maintenance supported by IPL-mediated NTC.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r02
Misuse: Life inside frame = Life of frame
Why it fails: A frame may contain a life-realising locus without being the locus.
Controlled correction: Localise the Attribution Locus before primary class.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r03
Misuse: Dormant = Life-in-Potential
Why it fails: Dormancy preserves intrinsic same-locus resumability.
Controlled correction: Use Life with dormant continuity where intrinsic resumability remains open.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r04
Misuse: Death = fourth class
Why it fails: Death closes a formerly living target locus; it does not classify all remnants.
Controlled correction: Use closure output and reframe constituents.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r05
Misuse: Potential = any stored sequence or biological material
Why it fails: Life-in-Potential requires throughput identity into admissible extrinsic completion.
Controlled correction: Require identity-bearing potential informational throughput.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r06
Misuse: Uncertain = unresolved verdict
Why it fails: Uncertainty is not a canonical field value except as a field condition carried in residual.
Controlled correction: State the missing discriminator condition and update condition.

RECORD got-v1-part-1-support-glossary-t09-r07
Misuse: Positive exclusion = uncertainty
Why it fails: A relation can be excluded under stated conditions without every broader question being solved.
Controlled correction: Separate positive exclusion from residual deferral.
